RHYS WOOTTON - MOTHERSHIP PRINTHOUSE

This illustration was inspired from watching a BBC documentary series called Mind Body and Kick Arse Moves about Martial Arts. One episode gave an insight into Kiai, a Japanese martial art form that focuses on creating sound into a physical force. It was incredible; this Kiai Master literally rang a gong from the other side of the room with a short, sharp shout. I was so impressed I decided to use it as starting point for my next piece.

My friends band Yuuki really liked it so I turned it into a screen-printed gig poster replacing Kiai with their name that translates to bravery, which fits the concept.
